Boston, MA

Posted by Rebecca

Did you know I was born in Massachusetts?  I was born in Falmouth, on the Cape, but left for Canada when I was 2.

I’ve returned to Falmouth once – in 2010 – and to Boston twice – in 2010, and last April when my brother ran in the Boston Marathon.  Like everyone else on Monday, I watched with much sadness as the news unfolded about the terrible events that took place.  It’s hard to understand why anyone would do something like this, and pointless, really, to try.

But I do have hope in humanity, and hope in the future.  And because I’m one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I believe that God will fix the pain caused by trauma like this.  I’m not going to use this blog as a forum to express my beliefs, but if you have any questions about my optimism for the future, just send me an email and I would be happy to answer them.  Or you can visit our official website here.

This attack on the city, and on the runners and their friends and families, has left me nostalgic and remembering the great times I have spent there.  So I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos of the city that’s just down the road from my birthplace….

  1. So glad you were not there… I looked back when I thought, “maybe she went again this year”. Boston is beautiful. 🙂

    • Me too. I’ve thought a lot about that over the last few days – I can’t imagine the terror of trying to find my brother in all that chaos. I’ve had dozens of texts, phone calls and emails the last few days from friends wondering if we were there. It’s a scary thing!
